Support and Resources
Support
When someone contacts OEA to report a concern, our first step is often to determine how we can provide support and ensure access to all of the university’s programs and activities. Frequently, that means connecting reporting parties to the supportive resources available through campus. That may also mean exploring supportive measures for reporting parties—steps our office may be able to assist a student or employee in taking to alleviate a concern even without going through an investigation, so long as those actions aren’t punitive towards another person or interfering with university operations, programs or activities.
Accommodations for Pregnant Workers
In partnership with supervisors, managers, and human resources, OEA coordinates the university’s process for ensuring compliance with the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). University employees and applicants for employment at Virginia Tech who have a known limitation due to pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition are entitled to reasonable accommodations. More information about the university’s process for providing accommodations is available below.
