Search Committee Charge Workshop

This workshop is designed for members of search committees and other Virginia Tech stakeholders who may participate in a search and selection process. In order to participate in an employment search and selection process, an employee must have completed this workshop within the last two years. The workshop is currently offered in three different methods: in person, via Zoom, and On-Demand.

Learning objectives

  • Provide an overview of the university's search and selection process
  • Comply with university and federal equal opportunity and affirmative policies and regulations 
  • Manage a fair and equitable search process for the best qualified candidates

Registration is required via Coursewhere by selecting "view by alpha" and then searching for the course title listed above and select the in person, Zoom or on-demand method. 

Virginia Tech stakeholders who are not employees participating in a search and selection process will need to manually register for the course, please contact Melissa Thomas or via phone at 540-231-5368.

Completion status

Completion of this training is valid for two years. Any employee who would like to verify their status with respect to meeting and maintaining the requirement can log into the Hokie Spa, select “Hokie Team,” and view the “Employment Information” page. The completion and expiration dates are listed under “Training Dates” at the bottom of that page.
